A beach for every day of the year, and a Georgian naval dockyard still in use.
Antigua advertises 365 beaches and the claim is not far off — the coast is bays all the way round, with reefs close in. Nelson’s Dockyard is a Georgian naval yard from the 1700s that never fell into ruin and still works as a marina, which is why it is World Heritage. Barbuda, an hour away by boat, is a single low island with seventeen kilometres of pink sand and a frigatebird colony of five thousand pairs in its lagoon.
