Bavarian Forest

Germany’s oldest national park: wild forest, lynx and wolves, glass towns and quiet valleys.

The Bavarian Forest and the Czech Šumava beyond it form the largest protected woodland in Central Europe, and the national park lets it grow wild — with a treetop walk, lynx and wolves in the animal enclosures, and trails to the Großer Arber. Zwiesel is a glassmaking town, Passau sits where three rivers meet, and prices are some of the kindest in Bavaria.
