Grassy summits, waterfall country, the town of books and food festivals.
Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons, are smooth red-sandstone summits with Pen y Fan at their top and a waterfall country of wooded gorges to the south. Hay-on-Wye is the town of second-hand bookshops and its literary festival, Abergavenny the market town of Welsh food, and Llandovery a drovers’ town with a castle ruin; the whole park is a dark-sky reserve.
