Ireland’s least-visited coast: sea cliffs among the highest in Europe, surf beaches and empty roads.
Donegal is a long way from Dublin and behaves accordingly. Slieve League drops more than 600 m straight into the Atlantic, Malin Head is the northernmost point of the island, and Glenveagh National Park holds a castle, red deer and a great deal of bog. The surf at Bundoran and Rossnowlagh is the best in Ireland, the Gaeltacht around Gweedore is strong, and the Wild Atlantic Way here is genuinely quiet — which is the whole point of coming.
