A colourful colonial town on a great lake, twin volcanoes on an island and surf beaches on the Pacific.
Granada is one of the oldest colonial towns in the Americas, with painted façades, a yellow cathedral and boat trips to the islets of Lake Nicaragua. In the lake, the island of Ometepe is two volcanoes joined by a narrow neck, with trails, kayaks and petroglyphs; on the Pacific side, San Juan del Sur is the surf town in a horseshoe bay, with turtle nesting beaches nearby.
