Roman temples, cedar forests and a coast where you can ski and swim the same day.

Lebanon packs an enormous amount into 200 kilometres. Baalbek has the largest Roman temple stones ever raised, Byblos has been lived in continuously for seven thousand years, and the Qadisha valley holds monasteries cut into cliffs above the last old-growth cedars. Beirut rebuilds and argues with itself. The mountains behind the coast take snow, so skiing in the morning and the Mediterranean in the afternoon is a real, if slightly theatrical, thing to do.
