Merzouga sits at the edge of the Erg Chebbi, towering orange sand dunes where camel treks lead to desert camps for a night under the stars. The road there passes the film-set town of Ouarzazate, the kasbah of Aït Benhaddou and the Todgha Gorge near Tinghir.
