The region Italians joke does not exist: drove roads, Roman ruins and no crowds at all.
Molise is the second smallest region in Italy and the least visited, which is the whole attraction. The tratturi, grass drove roads up to a hundred metres wide, still cross it from the mountains to Puglia, walked by sheep for two thousand years. Saepinum is a complete small Roman town with its walls, gates and forum standing in a field and nobody at the gate. Termoli has an old town on a headland and boats to the Tremiti Islands.
