Vineyards at impossible angles, wine towns on every bend and Roman Trier at the end.
The Moselle winds so tightly between Trier and Koblenz that a day on the river covers little ground and a lot of wine. Steep slate vineyards rise above Cochem and Bernkastel-Kues, both of them half-timbered towns with a castle overhead, and cycle paths follow the water the whole way. Trier has the best Roman buildings north of the Alps.
