New Forest & Winchester

Ponies on the heath, cycle tracks through ancient woods and two cathedral cities.
The New Forest has been a royal hunting ground since William the Conqueror: ponies, donkeys and cattle roam freely across heath and woodland, and gravel tracks make it one of England’s easiest places to cycle. Lyndhurst is its village capital; Salisbury has the tallest spire in the country and Stonehenge nearby, and Winchester was the capital of Alfred the Great.
