Africa’s largest population, a sacred forest of sculpture and a music scene that sets the continent’s tempo.

Nigeria is one in every five Africans and impossible to reduce. The Osun-Osogbo grove is a forest of shrines and sculpture along a river, World Heritage and still a living place of worship. Lagos is enormous, difficult and the engine of Afrobeats, with a gallery and studio scene to match. The Jos plateau and the Yankari reserve to the north have elephants and warm springs. Travel takes planning and local advice, and the reward is a country very few visitors see.
