Basalt columns, a coast road of cliffs and glens, and a capital that has turned its history into something worth visiting.
The Causeway Coastal Route is the spine: the hexagonal basalt of the Giant’s Causeway, the rope bridge at Carrick-a-Rede, Dunluce castle falling into the sea, and the nine Glens of Antrim turning inland. Belfast has made the Titanic quarter and its murals into serious visiting, and the black-cab tours explain the Troubles from both sides without softening them. Distances are small, the Mourne Mountains sit in the south-east, and Derry’s walls are still walkable the whole way round.
