The world’s largest wetland: jaguars on the riverbanks, caimans by the thousand and hyacinth macaws.
The Pantanal is the largest tropical wetland on earth, and in the dry season its animals gather at the remaining water where they are easier to see than anywhere in South America. The Transpantaneira road runs south from Poconé on wooden bridges past caimans, capybaras and storks, and at its end Porto Jofre is the base for boat trips to see jaguars hunting on the riverbanks.
