A bishop’s castle, windmills, juniper and a meteorite crater on Estonia’s biggest island.
Saaremaa is Estonia’s biggest island, reached by ferry and causeway, and life there moves at the pace of its windmills. Kuressaare has the best-preserved medieval castle in the Baltics and a string of spa hotels, the Kaali meteorite crater lies in the woods, and cliffs, junipers and lighthouses line the coast. On Muhu, Koguva is a fishing village of thatched farmhouses.
