A British fortress on a hill, a sugar train round the island and quiet Nevis across the strait.

Saint Kitts was the first English colony in the Caribbean, and Brimstone Hill, the great fortress on its hill, is a UNESCO site. The old sugar railway now carries visitors round the island, the southern peninsula has beaches and monkeys, and a short ferry crosses to Nevis, a round volcanic island of plantation inns where Alexander Hamilton was born.
