Rainbow-coloured mountains, the high-altitude vineyards of Cafayate and colonial Salta.
Argentina’s north-west is a road-trip country of red canyons and adobe villages. Salta is the colonial city with a pink cathedral and folk music in the peñas, the Quebrada de Humahuaca to the north has the seven-coloured hill above Purmamarca, and south through the Quebrada de las Conchas lies Cafayate, whose vineyards grow the flowery Torrontés at 1,700 metres.
