Slovak Paradise National Park

A limestone gorge park where the trails climb waterfalls on iron ladders, and almost nobody outside Slovakia has heard of it.

Slovenský raj is hiking of an unusual kind: one-way routes up narrow gorges on ladders, chains and log bridges, directly beside the waterfalls. Suchá Belá and the Hornád canyon are the classics, and the Dobšinská ice cave nearby stays frozen all summer. It asks for a head for heights more than for fitness, and the villages around Hrabušice and Podlesok make cheap, unfussy bases.
