A labyrinth of channels in the forest, punts instead of cars and pickled gherkins.
In the Spreewald the river Spree splits into hundreds of channels through alder forest, and some farms are still reached only by boat. Visitors take a punt from Lübbenau or paddle themselves, cycle the dykes between villages and eat the famous gherkins; Cottbus, the region’s town, has Prince Pückler’s parks.
