The green heart of Austria: pumpkin oil, wine roads and a Renaissance armoury.
Styria calls itself the green heart of Austria and has the forest cover to justify it. Graz is small enough to walk and keeps the largest historic armoury in the world, 32,000 pieces left exactly as they were racked. South of it the wine roads run along the Slovenian border through hills of sauvignon blanc and welschriesling, dotted with klapotetz windmills meant to scare birds. Dark green pumpkin seed oil goes on everything, salad included, and is protected by origin.
