A white colonial capital, dinosaur footprints and the silver mountain of Potosí.
Sucre is Bolivia’s constitutional capital and its most elegant city, whitewashed colonial buildings around a mild valley climate that makes it a favourite place to learn Spanish. Dinosaur footprints climb a limestone wall on the edge of town. Potosí, higher and colder, was once one of the richest cities on earth: the silver of the Cerro Rico financed the Spanish empire, and its mint and churches still show it.
