White resort villas, long piers and the sunniest beach in Germany.

Usedom has the most hours of sunshine in Germany and a beach that runs almost unbroken for forty kilometres into Poland. The imperial resorts of Heringsdorf, Ahlbeck and Bansin kept their white villas and long piers; inland are lagoons, and at Peenemünde a museum tells the dark history of the rockets built there.
