Ardennes forest, abbey breweries and the caves and castles of the Meuse.
Wallonia is the French-speaking half of Belgium and mostly green: the Ardennes roll south into Luxembourg, cut by the Meuse and the Semois, with Bouillon’s castle on a river loop and the citadel above Namur. Several of the world’s Trappist breweries are here and sell at the abbey gate. Dinant makes saxophones because Adolphe Sax was born there, the Han caves are entered by tram and left by boat, and the Battle of the Bulge is remembered in Bastogne.
